Fouling Defense

BELMONT EPIC

Elite two-component silicone hydrogel fouling defense coating — up to 90 months service life, effective on all vessel types including slow steaming and FPSOs.

An elite fouling defense coating integrating advanced silicone hydrogel with biocides. Suitable for all vessel types regardless of service speed, including slow/ultra-slow steaming ships and FPSOs. Supports extended service intervals up to 90 months, effective during idle periods up to 120 days. Complies with IMO AFS/CONF/26.

Key Features

  • Silicone Hydrogel + Biocide Technology

Integrates advanced silicone hydrogel with biocides to create a superior fouling barrier against marine growth — ensuring a consistently cleaner hull.

  • Up to 90-Month Service Life

Extended service intervals of up to 90 months represent the highest performance tier in the NBC antifouling range — minimising drydock frequency and lifecycle cost.

  • Effective During Idle Periods

Remains effective during long idle periods of up to 120 days — critical for FPSOs, laid-up vessels, and vessels with irregular operational schedules.

  • All-Speed Vessel Compatibility

Suitable for all vessel types regardless of service speed — including slow and ultra-slow steaming ships where biocide-only systems underperform.

  • Propeller Application

Also recommended for application on propellers, delivering fouling defense and reduced hydrodynamic drag on the propulsion system.

STORAGE

The product must be stored in accordance with national regulations. Keep the containers in a dry, shaded, cool, well-ventilated space and away from sources of heat and ignition. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Handle with care. Shelf Life 24 months unopened. Store indoors at 4.5°C (40°F) to 38°C (100°F).

INTENDED USE

This silicone coating is suitable for all vessel types regardless of service speed, including slow or ultra-slow steaming ships and FPSOs. It is also recommended for use on propellers. The formula supports extended service intervals of up to 90 months and remains effective during long idle periods lasting up to 120 days.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be clean, dry, and in sound condition. Remove all oil, dust, grease, dirt, loose rust, and other foreign material to ensure adequate adhesion.

Minimum recommended surface preparation: Existing, aged coatings: SSPC-SP1 Solvent cleaning, then scarify / abrade the surface to ensure proper adhesion.

COLOR & GLOSS VARIATION

Slight deviations in color may occur between production batches of primer and antifouling products. When subjected to atmospheric weathering and solar radiation, these products as well as epoxy-based topcoats, may exhibit chalking. Furthermore, the retention of gloss and color in topcoats depends on several factors. These include the paint type, specific pigment selection, application standards, and environmental conditions such as temperature and UV intensity.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The product is for professional use only. Personnel shall be trained, experienced, and use the equipment to mix/stir well and apply the product properly. Applicators shall use appropriate personal protection equipment when using this product. Always comply with New Belmont Coatings LLC technical data.

UNDOCKING

Minimum undocking time depends on number of coats applied, film thickness, and prevailing temperature. Maximum undocking time depends on the exposure conditions, the degree of air pollution, etc. The most important factor is to carry out a thorough high-pressure, fresh water cleaning after prolonged exposure.
