SPC Antifouling

BELMOLISA SPC

One-component acrylate SPC antifouling delivering effective biofouling resistance and low hull friction through a self-polishing mechanism.

A one-component acrylate SPC antifouling coating designed for underwater hull applications on primed steel or aluminum. Delivers effective biofouling resistance through a self-polishing mechanism that maintains low friction and limits hull degradation. Complies with IMO AFS/CONF/26.

Key Features

  • Self-Polishing SPC Technology

Continuously renews its protective surface through a controlled hydrolysis reaction, maintaining a smooth, biofouling-free hull throughout the service life.

  • Up to 60-Month Service Life

Engineered as part of a complete coating system to provide high-performance antifouling protection for service periods lasting up to 60 months.

  • IMO AFS/CONF/26 Compliant

Formulated in full compliance with the IMO International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships.

  • Low Friction Hull Surface

The self-polishing mechanism maintains an ultra-smooth hull finish that minimises hydrodynamic drag and reduces fuel consumption over the vessel's operational life.

  • Broad Operational Profile

Optimised for ships with diverse operational profiles including varying speeds and activity levels — from active commercial vessels to stationary offshore constructions.

  • Single-Component Convenience

Ready to use straight from the pail — no mixing, no pot life constraints. Simplifies application logistics and reduces waste on newbuilding and maintenance projects.

STORAGE

The product must be stored in accordance with national regulations. Keep the containers in a dry, shaded, cool, well-ventilated space and away from sources of heat and ignition. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Handle with care. Shelf Life 18 months unopened. Store indoors at 4.5°C (40°F) to 38°C (100°F).

INTENDED USE

Ideal for underwater hull applications in both newbuilding and maintenance. This formulation is optimized for ships with diverse operational profiles, including varying speeds and activity levels. As part of a complete system, it provides a high-performance solution for service life periods lasting up to 60 months. Applicable to stationary offshore constructions and deep-water structures. It is a reliable solution for static assets requiring long-term immersion protection.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be clean, dry, and in sound condition. Remove all oil, dust, grease, dirt, loose rust, and other foreign material to ensure adequate adhesion.

Minimum recommended surface preparation: Immersion Service: SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning Iron & Steel, bare: SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 (For anticorrosive primer coat) Existing Antifouling: SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning. Rinse using high-pressure fresh water to remove any weak, outer layer of existing antifouling. Depending upon type of existing antifouling, a sealer coat may be recommended.

COLOR & GLOSS VARIATION

Slight deviations in color may occur between production batches of primer and antifouling products. When subjected to atmospheric weathering and solar radiation, these products as well as epoxy-based topcoats, may exhibit chalking. Furthermore, the retention of gloss and color in topcoats depends on several factors. These include the paint type, specific pigment selection, application standards, and environmental conditions such as temperature and UV intensity.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The product is for professional use only. Personnel shall be trained, experienced, and use the equipment to mix/stir well and apply the product properly. Applicators shall use appropriate personal protection equipment when using this product. Always comply with New Belmont Coatings LLC technical data.

UNDOCKING

Minimum undocking time depends on number of coats applied, film thickness, and prevailing temperature. Maximum undocking time depends on the exposure conditions, the degree of air pollution, etc. The most important factor is to carry out a thorough high-pressure, fresh water cleaning after prolonged exposure.
