SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface must be clean, dry, and in sound condition. Remove all oil, dust, grease, dirt, loose rust, and other foreign material to ensure adequate adhesion.
Minimum recommended surface preparation: Iron & Steel: SSPC-SP6/NACE 3, 2 mil (50 micron) profile Stainless steel & Aluminum: Abrasive blast cleaning to achieve a surface profile using non-metallic abrasive media which is suitable to achieve a sharp and angular surface profile. Galvanizing: Sweep blast-cleaning using nonmetallic abrasive leaving a clean, rough and even pattern. Concrete: Dry abrasive blast cleaning to SSPCSP 13/NACE No. 6. Existing, aged coatings: SSPC-SP1 Solvent cleaning, then scarify / abrade the surface to ensure proper adhesion.
COLOR & GLOSS VARIATION
Slight deviations in color may occur between production batches of primer and antifouling products. When subjected to atmospheric weathering and solar radiation, these products as well as epoxy-based topcoats, may exhibit chalking. Furthermore, the retention of gloss and color in topcoats depends on several factors. These include the paint type, specific pigment selection, application standards, and environmental conditions such as temperature and UV intensity.
